Default 2007 S60 Performance Mods

Hey all-
So I have a 2007 Volvo S60 2.5T AWD which I love. However, I'm looking to up the ante with a few not too expensive mods. I'm thinkin one of those K&N drop in filters, and the IPD ECU softloader. Anyone have any other ideas/input?

Thanks

Larger anti sway bar, different suspension, larger drilled/slotted rotors and ceramic brake pads. . .

Ceramic pads are not a mod as they usually have a lower coefficient of friction than regular metallic based pads.. The only real pad upgrade for these would be Hawk HPS but honestly Brakes are the last thing to consider modding on a S60

I don't think the drop-in K+N will do much for you.. If you want more air coming in, look for a proper intake system as shown on www.ipdusa.com
The best bang for your buck would be upgrading the ECU to a IPD chipped model , and also upgrading the sway bars..

What are you willing to spend on mods? Whats your aims?

I am in agreement with the others saying IPD sway bars. They won't kill the ride or cause ground clearance, fender clearence or front end component life issues, and they will make the cornering flatter and more responsive.

Heavy swaybars and high quality tires are pretty much all upside. Most other mods have some nontrivial associated issues, at least if they make a big change.

Welcome to the forum.

FYI you bought the wrong brand of car to modify. While these are great cars and there are nice mods on the aftermarket for us, they aren't cheap.

You picked one of the industries best ECU upgrades to go with. The other one that is great is RICA. However keeping in mind with your budget and your not too expensive mods. The IPD ECU upgrade is going to cost you $895 plus whatever tax and shipping there is going to be. That is for their softloader option. Their ECU flash option, where you'd have to send them your ECU is $725 plus tax and whatever shipping there will be. One of the best tunes on the market, but not CHEAP.

As far as your filter idea. The panel filter is still the best setup for Volvo. By adding a Short Ram Intake (SRI) you wont be getting anymore air into your system then you already are stock. The MAF regulates the air flow. While these SRI's give great sound and looks under the hood... The horsepower gains to price ratio isn't worth it. FYI the R MODEL INTAKE KIT sold by IPD USA is a rip off and not worth the money. You could go to LOWES or HOME DEPOT and make it for probably $30-$50.

As far as suspension mods go sway bars are the best performance upgrade you can do. They really tie the car together and make it handle like it should straight from the factory. IPD makes some of the best too. I had them for my 1995 Volvo 850 N/A and I can pretty much say that they saved my life. I bought them for my 1999 S70 awd never installed them had to sell, needed the money back.
