Default 2007 s60 Tranny Flush??

Hi,

I've looked thru the forum and can't seem to find a straight answer..
I have an 07 s60 103K wondering if I should do a flsuh..
If so, any writeups on how and fluid to use?

Thanks

I would not do a flush if it's never been changed before. There is a drain bolt on the bottom of the tranny case that will drain about 3 quarts. I would drain and fill that much at the next 3-4 oil changes to get fresh fluid in it.
Here's a link to a site where you can order proper fluid... Mobil ATF 3309 Case of 12 quarts

You can buy a funnel with a long hose at most parts stores for a few bucks...you'll need one as the refill hole is down low on the left side of the tranny case in front of the engine. It has a yellow dipstick.

Any 3309 spec fluid is fine. I used Castrol in mine when I drained and filled (as 08s60 suggested) and will do the same again at the next oil change (since mine has 60k on it and apparently has never been done) You can even find 3309 spec fluid at Wal-Mart these days (shocker, I know)

I would NOT flush it. The most I would do is run SeaFoam TransTune through it about 50 miles before draining and refilling. A full flush at that mileage is begging for a little tiny piece of crud to get caught in a valve somewhere and cause for a major teardown... at least that has been my experience with electronic shift transmissions over the last 10-15 years. If you were at say, 40k, and were doing it every 40k, then yeah, I'd consider it, but you aren't.

I know on my R, I had to remove the airbox to get at the dipstick (stupid design... had to be a Ford engineering deal in on this one!) but all in all, pretty straight forward.

I disagree ..Volvo recommends that you replace the fluid at 80K i believe. Do the drain fill threw the radiator 1000s of guys over at swedespeed and volvospeed have done this as well as myself works with no issues... Pull 2qts add 2qts threw dip stick.. IPD even sells a flush kit for this.. Also JWS3309 fluid.(Volvo 3309,Mobil 3309, Toyota T-IV) all the same fluid..Gl
