Sorry if this has been covered already, I couldn't find it ...... I am getting ready to change the oil and filter on my 2008 S60, first time for me on a Volvo. Do I need any special tools to remove the oil filter housing? What are the torque specs for the oil filter housing? Where does the oil filter reside, above or below the engine? I believe the torque spec for the oil drain plug is 28 foot pounds.

i found the answers i was looking for at ipd. i ordered the T261K from ipd which includes 3 filters, 3 crush washers and the tool for taking the filter off. the torque spec for the filter housing is 25Nm. looks like the filter is assessable from under the car.

 

Glad you found what you needed. Make sure you keep up with the recommended service intervals. If you do your Volvo will last forever, almost.
