Default how to change oil filter on 2008 C70

Hi everyone, I'm new here and I'm not sure how these forums work. I decided to change the oil in my Volvo C70 T5 myself after seeing the cost of $85 to have it done for me.
I found a post here that states the location is under the PS reservoir, and I found the the reservoir by removing the right headlamp. then I saw a cylindrical housing under the PS reservoir, however, I don't see any path to remove it. Is there a special procedure I should follow? I've never changed the oil in a euro car before. any help /info would be appreciated.

Regards

Oil filters are accessible from underneath the vehicle.

So it appears, however it appears to be located inside the bumper cover on the passenger side, do I really have to remove the wheelwell cover to get access to the oil filter? this seems a little radical to me.

Well, I decided to burn the time and got a friend to come help me search for the oil filter.
It turns out to be on top on the left side behind the air intake. there are two 8mm bolts to the plastic air intake. then it just pulls out. after that the filter unscrews from the top. mine unscrewed just using my hand. I removed it after draining the oil. I was unsure of myself, so I removed it slowly, this caused a couple of drops of oil to spill into the cavity there. I think pulling it out quickly would have prevented the spill.
I hope this helps someone else.

Sorry for the misinformation my 98 C70 2.3 HPT, 42k miles, is underneath. First time I heard of an oil filter on top, but must make for easy access & replacement.

I have less than 60k miles, so I used 5qts of Valvoline 5-30 synthetic, when I found myself low I added one more qt of Castrol Syntec 5-30. I used a mobil1 filter, it was easy to install. I used a small awl to get the gasket on without twisting it.

I use only Mann or Mahle filters. The Youtube videos are enlighting.

got a couple oem volvo filters on their way from fceuro. picked up 2 six packs of mobil1 5-30 at costco for $27/pack -- good for 15,000 miles ! ;-)

also got a couple both engine and cabin air filters. sounds like the cabin one will be the tougher of the 2 to swap out...

Since Volvo keeps changing their locations from year to year, it's very important to tell what year C70 you have when you post.

On my '09 model, it's a canister with a black plastic top with a 36mm hex and it's located to the left front of the engine and facing up (when you are standing at the front of the car looking down).

So you need a 36mm socket and buy the oil filter core before you start. You may also need a flexible joint for the 36mm socket because the location can't be reached straight down. I glued a flexible joint to the 36mm as my dedicated tool for this. You also need to remove the air duct in front of it in order to gain access.

BTW, on this model year, you don't replace the oil filter; you replace the core (filtering elements) inside the oil filter canister...

Thanks WhyVolvo. This time around the oil canister didn't come off by hand so I got a 36mm socket and that worked for me. recall I have an '08 C70.
