Default 2012 S60 sound problem

Often when I start the car, the radio having been left on, I loose all sound. I then have to turn off radio, restart car, turn on radio again. This can take several attempts.

Anyone know this problem?

Thanks

Do you have a bluetooth device connecting to the vehicle? I have a phone that is paired and often when I start the car, it mutes the sound while it tries to connect to the phone.

Yes to phone connecting to Bluetooth but that's not the problem as sound does not return until everything re-started.

The biggest problem for me is that I don't always realise that my proximity warning sound is off.

This may sound crazy but take both positive and negative cables off battery and touch together for 15 minutes. Then try radio again. Could also be a software issue

Default Volvo radio stops working

It seems that my radio has a problem. I will have the radio on then after 5-6 minutes it will stop and says that it is having problem pairing with my phone. If i have it paired with my phone and i am listening to pod casts it will cut out. I think the problem is with the radio but dealership said it might be with the screen (that doesn't make sense to me). Do i have to replace the radio? any other suggestions?

Hello fellow Volvo owners!

I know this is an old thread but....

I have the EXACT same issue on my 2014 s60, and the only way to get the sound back is by doing the EXACT same steps as you.

I wonder if you found a solution to this provblem?

Hi guys,I'm having the same issue, the radio can be working fine,I get out the car, lock up and when I come back the screen will be on but no sound,I have to switch off, open driver door to knock it off and then restart, then the sound is back!

Same issue with S60 2012. I'm not sure if there's a relation but I'm in Vancouver and this happened to me a couple of times once we had heavy rain.

I'm curious to find out the reason
