2013 S60 third brake light HELPPP!
Nothing like waiting until the last minute for an inspection sticker
I noticed my third brake light (rear windshield) is out. I do not get a "bulb failure" message and both right and left brake lights work fine. I've looked over my manual and maybe I'm just missing it but does the third brake light have its own fuse or are the brake lights all on the same fuse? If so where is it located? I know the whole piece will need replacing if the light is out i just want to rule out possible issues before hand...alot of what i have read indicates its uncommon for the LED to go out.
Any information is appreciated- I tore this car apart today trying to figure it out with 0 success.

Massachusetts inspections are vicious! My son had to get $2K worth of repairs on stuff no other state would call out :-(
The third brake light (aka "high mount brake light" in Volvo parts parlance) is LED based so it has a very low resistance which is why the bulb failure didn't detect it. There's no separate fuse vs the single fuse for all the brake lights and the repair pretty much is to replace the unit.
As a simple test, you can pop off the cover and pull off the connector (search Youtube for vids if you want to do this yourself - assuming you have a volt meter) and make sure its seeing voltage when you apply the brake pedal (just to rule out some odd wiring issue). As to getting a replacement, its likely a dealer part but google "volvo 3135958" to see if that looks right. Note Tasca Parts (tascaparts.com) is a dealer parts store down in RI and has the best prices ($51 for this) but best to confirm fitment etc.
