Question 2015 Volvo S60 Brake Pads

Hello guys,

I need help for my 2015 Volvo S60 with over 80K Mileage. When I brake, I hear squeaking noises and it irritates me hearing that. Does it sound good to replace the brake pads only? or I should also replace the rotors?

Also, I already bought brake pads from R1 concepts and ready to go to a mechanic. I'm just waiting for your advise for approval If should buy a rotor.

Thank you

I've replaced the front pads/rotors on my 2015 V60 with Akebono ceramic pads/Brembo rotors - the combination I've used on all my cars for 25+ years - Long life, no noise, essentially no wheel dust and excellent stopping. While it may seem counter intuitive, the harder ceramic pads actually extend rotor life since they are far less likely to pick up junk than softer pads and it is the embedded junk that scores rotors.

Yes, always do pads with fresh rotors. You should always have clean surfaces on the rotors when replacing pads to ensure they bed properly. These days nobody "cuts" rotors to resurface (particularly at 80K miles) since there's a minimum thickness tolerance. I'd also stick to quality rotors since budget aftermarkets are often lesser quality which may warp. Top brands include Brembo, Zimmermann and Bosch.
