hello I recently bought a 2007 Volvo S60 the car seemed to run fine it was used when I bought it and the exhaust had been modified and had no catalytic converter straight piped with a large 4 inch exhaust tip the car had a problem with the DTC I could get the DTC to light up but it wouldn't show me any information I had ran the car out of fuel my bad and at that point drained my battery until Dad and had to finally towed vehicle to Volvo dealership because I couldn't get it restarted again the tow truck driver Mansion I needed at least $10 worth of fuel to get it to start again and that he hadn't put these the type of car and that he could probably get it to start at that point yeah got the vehicle started it ran it ran fine it ran fine and then it slowly started having issues the starter fuse would blow every time I want to start the vehicle and had to replace it every other time so I up the amperage by 5 to keep it from blowing a short time within a week. Things also started happening the vehicle's lights wouldn't work properly and had very dim lights on the highway to the point where I could not see it was very dangerous my brakes when all of a sudden become very stiff and hard and then I would have to shut turn the key on and off to reset it to get it do go back to the regular pressure I would sit at idling speed and it would all the sudden start to over heat and cool it would be all over the ground once the vehicle had cooled off I could replace new coolant in it and it would be fine again for a few days before overheating again I noticed upon when it was raining that I couldn't get heat to properly dial in to defrost the windows and actually became more foggier I also noticed while idling at a red light I would sometimes get these medium sized grape puffs of smoke with that would float past my the driver side window slowly sing such as the fan interior fan wouldn't work anymore the exterior radiator fan wouldn't work anymore and miraculously they would start to work again. The car finally went into limp mode where I could not get it over 30 kilometres an hour and over 2500 rpm I took it to a private mechanic do you have it inspected and got back a list of things that needed to be done on it but the major problem was the coils had faulty wires and they were charred and arcing off the engine I spent $1,000 just to have that wiring replaced and then got a brand new battery and had it reset and taken out of limp mode the car ran pretty good and soon within a couple weeks the vehicle started to do the same things over and over again it would have a rough idle where would surge up to 2200 RPM back down to 700 RPM and up to 2200 RPM and down to 700 or p.m. constantly it would not stop doing that I took it at through some seafoam into it thinking somebody had put something into my tank and a half a tank of premium fuel and instantly as I started to run a lot better I mean wow once I bring those lines out the engine was responsive and has so much more torque and Power that I had a new love for this vehicle I proceeded for about 20 minutes and got pulled over which I didn't have insurance or registration stupid me to deal with having it put into impound for 30 days and after the 30 days had the vehicle released the vehicle seem to run fine to get it from point A to point B the car then sat for a few hours and I came back out to start it up and lo and behold that dang idle was back 21 00 RPM back down to seven and continues to do so and can't seem to figure out what the heck is wrong with this car

 

What a roller coaster of a post, I highly recommend bringing it to a competent Volvo mechanic or dealership. Sounds like you have quite a few different issues.
