I canPM you the vin, as well as some $ to do one for me? The car is awesome, but I just wanna be sure.
Thanks in advance (I really want to get back into volvo's, I haven't had one since I was 19 in university, it was an 81 245DL with a B21A anda single SU carb....terrible little beast, so glad the newer ones are light-years ahead in tech. advancements)

Always doa carfax. The only time I did not do it, I got hosed.
Carfax will show you the entire history, who owned the car, how often it was serviced and if it was wrecked.
If the car was wrecked or damaged badly, or even a salvage and it does not show in Carfax, Carfax will refund you the price of the car.
Often a seller, especially dealerships (they have a subscription), offers a link to the Carfax report (make sure it's not a printout or a pdf, or a standalone html page, as it can be faked), which is a good thing to know when YOU are the seller (a good plus if you know the car you sellis really a good car).
Otherwise it is $30 a pop, but they have 10-report and subscription rates.
I spent the $30 on my S60 and it showed the seller was not lying.
When my step son was on the market for a very cheap car (for around $2500), I did not run the carfax on the car he bought and we got burned, as it was a wrecker and we had to spend $1000 to fix some extra stuff.

Carfax still won't tell you everything though...
My dad bought one of his cars off of some guy he knows...long story short...the dude said it had $10,000+ in damages[:@].
Another time sitting at a stop light (same car), and some old couple rear ends us at 45mph. Carfax still hasen't post those reports.
And it is notjust that car...we did some research on cars we knew personally...and Carfax didn't show anything wrong with the titles.
Bottom line don't just rely on Carfax. Inspect the car yourself, or have a independent inspector do it.
Test every little button, check the engine, look under the car, test drive the car and push ittosee ifit mighthave a potential problem.
Anyways...Good luck, and hope it all works out for you

Carfax is garbage. My 3 cars show that all 3 were in separate major accidents within 2 weeks of each other around Christmas time 2006. (none were). Carfax makes the car owner prove the record they have on file is incorrect. They wont tell who their source is that gave them the wrong info to begin with!!!! Tried for a year now to get Car****s to repair their records but they are too busy stealing money from unsuspecting customers to care. I wish I could somehow take these asses to court an sue them.
