Default ABS Lights

2001 S60. ABS and TRS lights come on intermittently. ABS brakes will kick in every once in a while and activate the pedal durring regular braking. Seems to do this only when the ABS/TRS lights are off. Replaced the ABS control module w/ a remanufactured unit from BBA and it has had no effect. The check engine light is also on. It shows 2 trouble codes, both of them are PO500 (Veh Speed Sensor A malfunction). Any one have any ideas what the problem is?

BBA is telling me that the replacement module was tested before it was sent to me. They suspect the pump is bad. Does this sound right. If so how hard is the pump to replace?

I have yet to replace a ABS pump on a S60.
They don't really ever go bad.
Have the codes pulled even though the light isn't on it should have codes stored.

Mechanic is telling me it is the ABS sensors. Says that sometimes cleaning them will help. How hard are these to replace? He said most of the time it is the front left sensor that is bad.

I have never replaced an ABS sensor on one of these cars.
Some have tried but that didn't fix the problem.
You can have it rebuilt for about $100.00.
How much is he going to charge for the sensor and installation?
