adjusting headlights for better vision.
Anyone know how to adjust your headlights for better vision? My driver's light seems to point up and off to the right and it's really annoying and makes it difficult to see very well. Your help is appreciated.
Thanks.
Thanks.
There are adjustment screws that you turn to adjust the up and down, left and right of the bulb. I believe that one is on the top back of the headlight housing and one is on the outside (fender) side of the housing. I used a socket driver to adjust although I think you can also use a standard screwdriver. Make sure you have a flat surface in front of the vehicle to shine the beam on so you can get them both adjusted to the same level. I remember seeing a picture, I think it was on the volvo-forums.com site that showed the adjustment screws. You may want to search that site.
Park your vehicle in front of your garage door when you do your adjustment. That way both lamps can be aligned to the same level, ie: your left won't be higher than the right when they are shining on the same plane on the door.

Many forums like this are a great source of information so I should point out that HID headlights are not adjusted the same way. I assume that S60T5 vehicle has standard hallogen bulbs that are able to be replaced.
HID however have adjustments to a sensor located in the trunk (at least thats what the dealer told me) This sensor compensates for a heavy rear load and adjusts the angle of the headlight automatically. I thought it was interesting.

Alex

HIDs are self leveling, but they are still adjustable. The sensor is in the back of the car, but the manual adjustment is in the same location as the halogen lights, on the back of the headlight assembly.
