Default Alarm problem and cruise contol issue

Hi, I own a 2001 S60T which for the past year has been a great car with no major problems. Just today I have I have a problem with the alarm, when I lock the car with the fob the doors lock as they should then 25 seconds later I can hear the deadlocks engage, at this point the alarm goes off every time. If I lock the car with the key the alarm does not go off. It is as if the alarm is arming itself too early and the current drop from the deadlock motor is triggering the alarm. This is not itermittent, it does it now every time the car is locked with the remote fob.

Another thing I would like some advice on is the cruise control; since I purchased the car last year it has not worked at all, for example travelling on a motorway at 70mph hold down the cruise button on the steering wheel nothing at all happens, no light on the dash, nothing at all. Is there a common problem or something I can check myself, is it possible it has been disconnected for some reason.

Many thanks for any input on either issue, it would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Kev.

1.Have the codes for the alarm system checked.

2.Is there codes in the engine control module?
If so the cruise won't work.

Thanks for your reply, please excuse my lack of knowledge but how do I check these codes you have referred to, is this something that has to be done by a main dealership.

Thanks

Kev.

Usually a Dealership or Volvo only repair shop.
