Alternator pulley broke

Well I'm a bit scared now. I heard a bit of a chirping noise this morning as I drove to work. On my way back all a sudden warning lights came on in the car and I lost power steering/AC. Got the car home (15 min drive... really hope that was not a bad idea) and it looks like the pulley on the Alternator is slanted like the shaft broke and there is all kinds of metal dust around it. Serpentine belt was broken as well.
Do you think I damaged my car driving it home? the oil/temp gage stayed ok but I really do not know enough about the car to know if that means the engine stayed cool or not.
Anyone know how much the alternator costs to replace?

No you did hurt anything thats not already hurt. Water pump is driven off the timing belt. You may have dead battery, but once its fixed you will be alright. You will need to find out what was the cause of the binding although I believe its the alt that may have been the culprit there are a few other pulleys you should inspect before throwing a new belt on there.
