Question Anti-Skid service required with other issues

Hello All,

I have a 2004 Volvo S60 (non-turbo), Today coming back from work, as soon as I started driving I noticed that "Anti-Skid Service Required" warning pop up, moment later, my AC stopped cooling (it blows air but not cold), RPM meter is dead (however speedometer works), Temperature gauge is dead.

Car runs ok ( drove close to 15 miles without any problem) I am not sure what is going on here. I called dealership they said it could be multiple problems.

Any insight?

thanks,

Default updates to earlier post

So....
after parking car for 1 hour or so...I turned it on again...RPM meter came on so did temp. gauge. But "Engine requires service" check engine light came up. Anti skid service went away. I took it to auto store he said you engine is throwing fake codes. (anybody heard of that before??) after 2 minutes at store all codes went away. Car was working normal.

Something I noticed that brake pedal is softer I just had all pads+rotors replace + bleed the system 4 weeks ago. Pedal was very firm after my repairs so...I am really confused why pedal is soft again?

Any insight???

No, there are no fake codes. You need to have it scanned by a dealer level computer to get all the codes stored in all the modules.

Looks like engine ECU went to 'limp-home' mode. It worked without communicating with other modules. It's better to have a look at the error codes you get from dealer computer. Of course if codes were not cleaned at the previous diagnostics.

Default Anti skid service required

Had similar problem Anti Skid Service Required with loss of acceleration...took to volvo dealer they had no idea what the cause was after charging me £80 to hook up to their diagnostic... decided to look @ forum someone else had same problem & an AA guy suggested to unclip both fuse connections one under passenger glovebox one under bonnet ... gave it a go the car now runs perfect after continuous cutting of power something to do with loose connections & power spikes... so a big Thank You! to him...

I recently got a 2004 S60, with the ABS anti skid service showing up intermittently. The brake peddle would pulse like the ABS was tripping often, but it did not always result in a light.

Have the codes read!! The symptoms pointed the steering compass ring, but the codes showed a bad right front and left rear wheel sensors. One or the other, but very rarely both. I purchased an Autel MD-802 to read the codes and check for stored codes when I wanted. If I did not check, I would have started with the steering angle sensor.

Anyway, both wheel sensors ohm checked bad and after replacement things are working fine.
