Auto shifter won't dissing age from park!!!!
Can someone please enlighten me on why my 2007 s60 shifter won't come out of park occasionally? It really baffles me why sometimes I can put it in park and when I try to depress the hand /finger button it will not depress and let me move it from park into gear???
I have the auto trans and sometimes it will just do it randomly. I know some people say that if you spill a coke or drink it will start sticking. This is not the case I have taken the top cover off and cleaned with electrical cleaner and then lubed with electrical spray. I can see when I depress the brake that the safety retract is moving that helps remove it from park but the button on top of the shifter will not depress. How can you fix this and what has other owners noticed about this? If someone has any ideas or even a schematic on how this system works so I can fix it ok ease let me know.
Thanks!

Couple things here.
First. If your car has a leather boot at the bottom of the ****,remove it. It just pops off.
Second. Get some one with gorilla arms and pull the **** straight up toward the rear view mirror.
Third. Look under the button after you remove it and see if it is broken.
Fourth. You will most likely be replacing the ****,as the plastic inside of the **** gets brittle and breaks.

Thanks for the help! I fixed it today following your advise. I pulled up really hard and the shifter know finally came up. I found that the wire coming from the bottom would sometimes pop out of the hole on the shaft that slides up and release the second shifter locking safety rod. I just removed the rod all together. It still has the brake safety lock.
Thanks!
Thanks!
