So, i struggoed with this for EVER. and - much to my dismay - swear words did not make it come out. I did, however, discover a pretty good way to do it.

Make sure you have enough room to swing a hammer and see well
Look at the back of the flange... see the holes? see some holes match up with the threaded holes on the front and some don't? take a allen wrench and stick it in one of those holes until you find one that it 'bottoms out' in. Once you find it - take a 2" long crappy driver bit (not flat head - star bit or square worked best for me, but ii doesn't matter)
Stick it in that hole until it bottoms out.
get a 1/4 inch socket that will fit around that 2" driver end that is sticking out of that hole. (6.5mm or 7mm i think)
Take a 6"-9" long 1/4 inch extension and line it up with that socket the best you can and then hit the crap out of that with a hammer. It will drive the cv join out of the flange.
