Default BCM Failure and un-repairable…

Well like the title says I’ve got a dead bcm on my 2005 s60. Sent the new one to xemodex but they couldn’t repair it so suggested a software reload into another. I agreed and they tried it but that still didn’t work. Palm to face. So now I’m stuck in which way to turn? Is the dealer the last hope cause I know that gets pretty salty pretty fast. Just for transparency I did send the cem also to have it checked and it tested just fine. Just
wondering if anyone else had a similar situation and was the dealer the one to finally fix it? Thanks
interestingly stopped by a local independent Volvo garage and they swear the bcm is plug and play with no software loading. Which goes against everything I’ve read.

Yeah the BCM is not plug and play, there are also different types based on traction control and such. I think if XemodeX couldn't fix it or reload into another unit, you are looking at a new unit which would be a dealer job. You can change the ABS pump on the unit, but that is about it.
