I have a 2003 S60 AWD. On two occasions in the last week after hitting a large bump in the road the brake system failure warning came on and then the car lost power and the transmission failed to operate except to go into park or neutral. Within a half-hour of being turned-off the car turned on and all warnings stopped and the car drove away fine. Dealer says it needs a new DIM (drivers instrument module), but that was replaced in 2006, and its only gone 18000 miles since then.

Suggestoins would be greatly appreciated.

 

I would check all electrical connections first.
