Default buying a S60 AWD

I am thinking of buying a 2002 S80. The choice is between a 2002 S60 AWD or an S80. I live in Canada and needs to drive in snow and icy roads too. Is the S60 cramped in the back seat?
How reliable are these cars and which is better?
Any information and advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Yes. Back seat is for small kids.

Back seats arent bad, unless you have tall people in the front that put there seats all the way back. Then you run into problems. My friend Alan is like 6'1 and so he likes putting the seat back pretty far. The back seats are pretty comfortable (I have the 04 S60r, so they are all leather)

I own an '02 S60 AWD. I'm 6'1" and have the seat all the way lowered but not all the way back, and it's quite comfortable for me. Adults that aren't as tall as I am are comfortable enough in the back even when sitting directly behind me.

Normally I have my two kids in the back and they seem comfortable. My daughter who is five and sits in a booster has lots of room. My son, who sits behind the passenger seat/my wife is two and a half and sits in a convertible five point car seat, tends to kick the back seat.

All and all, I find the S60 big enough for the family or the occasional adult in the back. Although, I wouldn't bother seating two kids and an adult in the back as it is near impossible.

There's lots of shoulder room and width in the car. I read in an article that the S60 because of its wide stance has the most shoulder room in its class (i.e. Audi A4, BMW 3 series, VW Passat, Subaru Legacy).

I live in Vancouver and it's been great to have the AWD, especially with the snow and ice we had this winter. The DSTC is a great feature to have in the winter.

I have to agree with jaminmc, the front seats are the most comfortable I've ever sat in, but I guess they're probably the same in the S60 or S80.

Its a tough decision as I would prefer to have the S 60 AWD but really need the space in the back seat that adults can sit comfortably. I will look at the S 80 too.

If you hve to carry adults in the back seat your will find the S60 cramped. It's fine for kids but even at 14, my son complains about the leg room (30in. inseam). Our S60 is only front wheel drive and I have to tell you it's still solid in the snow. We live in upstate NY so we see more than our fair share of snow.

Thanks, teeitup, I am also inching towards the S80 now. Well or the Lexus RX300(1999). There are lots of people who drive front wheel driven cars where we live as well and with the proper winter tires( they use studded tires) there do not seem to be to many problems.
