Default buzzing noise from behind temperature controls

I have a 2002 s60 and everytime I enter the car I hear a buzzing sound from behind the climate controls. It will last for several minutes, and then finally stop. It almost sounds like a timer or selenode buzzing. Can anyone help with what the problem might be?

Assuming you have the automatic climate control, there's a small fan behind the vent located above the right temperature ****. I don't know about the manual climate control panel.

so I have the dual zone, automatic climate control and it seems as soon as I into the car the buzzing starts. If it is the fan how difficult is it to remove the console and replace it?

Default buzzing sound

I fixed the buzzing this weekend - it was a fan behind the environmental control panel. I tried blowing out the fan with compressed air, and some dust came out, but finally I had to take the fan apart, which was easy because there are tabs that can be released, and then I greased the fan spindle a little. Works like a champ now

I've got the same noise. How hard was it to get the fan out? Did you have to take a lot of the dash apart?

you have to remove the pen holder, there are two screws behind there which hold the climate controls in place. Remove the screws and then you have to pull down and out on the control unit to remove it. One thread said to disconnect the battery before disconnecting the connectors on the rear of the ccu, so you can get to the fan without removing the connectors, but it is easier to pull the connectors. The fan then has tabs on the sides which can be lifted removing the board from the fan, which allows you to clean out the housing and grease the fan. The ccu can be tricky depending on how well you pull down and out.

Hello, I have a similar issue with a buzzing noise in my 2010 S60. The noise comes from the driver side odometer area. I am not sure if there is some electrical problem with the car or not. The noise comes on only while driving (not always) there’s no noise from the engine or under the hood while the car is stopped & engine is running. I took a short video of the noise today. Has anyone experienced anything similar to this issue? Thanks in advance.
