Default Car Won't Start

I have a 2002 Volvo S60 that will not start. When I turn the key, there is a tick-tick-tick noise that sounds like machine gun fire. The interior and dashboard lights go on. The car was parked for a month, then driven into the garage, and has now been parked again for 3-4 weeks. I do not want to try to jumpstart the car if the battery is not the problem. Is this a battery - or worse - problem?

if you have a charger you could try charging the battery, otherwise I would jump start it....

I'd say the battery is almost certainly dead. When my battery died I also got the machine-gun ticking.

After you get the car running, make sure the alternator is charging.

battery - the ticking means it just doesnt have enough power to get it all fired up.
