Climate air not hot
Hello all. This is my first post here so please be gentle with me - lol.
I have a 2000 2.0t and the climate only blows tepid, luke warm air even what set to maximum. The air con seems to work fine. The gauge sits at 12 o´clock all the time and I have checked the thermostat and it is ok. The heater pipes are getting hot and all the usual things things check out as fine.
I have read that sometimes the flap control motors need recalibrating - a trip to the dealer as I understand.
A mechanic has suggested that I put a flushing agent in the coolant as the heater core might be blocked - is this a known issue?
I have read somewhere that, if I understand correctly, turning the climate controls to max cold and then max hot MIGHT set the system right again - any thoughts.
As an extra thought I unplugged the engine temp sensor yesterday, while the engine was running, just to check the plug and the gauge stayed at 12 for a few seconds after unplugging, then went down and now it won´t come back up even when the engine is fully warmed up. Will disconnecting the battery reset the gauge or climate back to going again?
I also own a 1995 P38 Range Rover so I am familiar with ´quirky´ cars.
