Any idea what coolant should I use on S 60 2.5T (brand name) and where I could get it?

What do you mean regular coolant? The pre-mixed stuff? There is nothing wrong with premixed coolant, it's just more expensive, that's why I go with concentrate and add my own water. As long as it is the blue coolant you are good to go. I have used the blue coolant from autozone as well as what I linked.

 

What do you mean by "blue coolant?" I have only used green/red coolants in all of my cars. This is the first time I have to use blue coolant. I am totally unfamiliar with it.

Blue is used on a lot of Euro vehicles. Color just differs for what minerals are in the cooling system so nothing reacts or corrodes each other. Prestone is a fine brand as well, again you just need blue.

 

To note about color - all coolant formulas are now color coded. Reason is some formulas have chemicals which are corrosive to aluminum (which is prevalent in Volvo cooling systems. For example, you'd never want to run or mix Dexcool (orange) in an older Volvo as it can create globs that clog the radiator. To note, on my 850 the OEM coolant is green, on my Gen 1 S40 its blue, our Highlander uses pink, and my VW cc can also use pink (Pentosin G12 or light purple Pentosin G13. You didnt note what year your S60 is but the first thing to do is check the owners manuel or a Volvo friendly web store for the Genuine Volvo part number. Then you can google around. As to name brands, Pentosin is generally Euro OEM but other premium brands carried at the big box Autoparts stores will also have a product that meets factory specs.

Last comment - if you are going to drain/fill the system, consider doing a fresh water flush. Don't bother using detergent products as they may do more harm than good to a system in good working order. Also read up on how to burp the cooling system - some models have vent plugs to allow you to released trapped air.

 

Low coolant warning popped up on my 2016 Volvo S60 with 78K miles. The overflow reservoir shows coolant is slightly below the MIN line. How does this sound?

For a small "top-off" due likely to evaporation, it is possible to simply add a little distilled water. The evaporation that occurs is the water so it is logical to simply add a little water. My comment is strictly for a small top-off.
