Exclamation Cooling water issue - 2014 S60

Hi All!

I have a problem. It started approximately three weeks ago with a computer alert: "The level of the cooling water is low". I didn't understand it because a car is quite new but I checked the cooling water and approx. 1dl of water was really missing! I looked for any leaking problems but couldn't find anything suspicious.
I have replenished the cooling water and after this there was no any problem or alert until the next week. The car alerted again after a week and there was a shortage again!
I absolutely don't understand this phenomenon. There is not any sign of any kind of damage. The engine and everything inside the engine bay looks perfect and clean! The cooler looks OK as well. I have no any ideas what could it be.
Please help me!

Thank you Guys!

You're under warranty. Take it to the dealer and get it checked out.

I know the warranty, but if I take it there I will miss the car for at least one or two days and I need it every day, it's very important.
That's why I would like to solve this issue by myself, if it's possible. But of course, if I can't find the problem I will have to take the car back to the dealer...

No, it means that I can't diagnose a coolant leak over the internet. I work at a dealer and I have not come across a 14 with a coolant leak. If i cannot see the car, I can't tell you where the coolant is going.

damien,

Don't get me wrong, I just wanted to know somebody has ever experienced this issue, and can tell the origin of this. And if it's possible I try to avoid the dealer who is not as kind as yours, and I don't really want to reorganize my days which are actually quite busy in this period. So, if it's possible to find out something by sharing this issue with other owners who has the same car I choose this way at first, but I know nobody can repair or fix something over the internet. Of course, if there won't be any solution or suggestion I will go back to the dealer, and there's my warranty too.

Can_247,

I surmised I'm not the only one who experienced this issue.
So you say they could'n find anything in the service yet? It's a really big mystery because I don't see any leaking too and wouldn't think there would be any problem with the gasket, but this is just my opinion.
Anyway, I'm not disappointed with this Volvo. I think it's a really good car, I enjoy driving it every time I get in the car, behaves good at big distances as well and I could tell much more good things about it.
So, I hope the problem will be fixed.

I asked my service for a detailed report.

Shortly he said they did engine work and now they are testing my car.

I think in 2-3 days I will give you news.

Thank you can_247! I'm looking forward for your news!

When you said "dirty coolant" you meant there is something dust in the water?
And you have noticed a lower coolant level as well...
Interesting.

yeah I got my car and I miss my car

firstly pressure test failure . this is because of no leaking outside. the test will be success under the condition of outside leaking.

but where is the water going?

there was a beard on the head gasket. and water is not going to cylinders but because of vaporisation coolant level is going low.

what did service do?
head gasket shaved. now no leaking or no problem.

everything done under warranty so its fine. but it takes too long to repair. 4 weeks without volvo..

Wowowowo! I probably misunderstand something, but where was the small hole exactly? I think you mean a small, tiny rift or hole on the gasket, am I right?
And which gasket is affected now exactly? It's important!

Four weeks, that's a long time. I don't understand why does it take so long.

When we bought our car, I told the salesman that it was a leap of faith for me to buy the 2.0L since we've been burned before buying a new model and this is a new engine to Volvo. I hope this isn't a start of a trend.

So the head gasket could be wrong... Strange, the car is too young for a problem like this, it's less than one year old! And in a good condition...

The mirrors?! Oh man, you really unlucky. Sorry for that. :-)
The fuse is a good idea, I think the same. Had a fuse problem with the cigarette lighter, and my friend had the same problem in his A4. Try to change it!

What about your speed? Do you push it hard or keep a steady pace?
