Cruise control resume kills engine

Cruise control resume kills engine
'03 S60 AWD 2.5T
I'm driving along under cruise at ~70mph, brake for traffic then hit resume when clear.
1 time out of 5 this causes the engine to immediately go into "reduced power" mode and I have to pull over shut off/on (not fun!). However if I accelerate back up to cruise speed and hit resume all is well. No codes.
Throttle body cleaned and PCV plumbing all replaced and it still happens.
Any clues?
