Current generation tire rotation info
As a new to Volvo owner who does my own maintenance, I like to be well informed about basic maintenance procedures.
Unlike what most tire manufacturers recommend, Volvo does not suggest crossing tires from side to side, even for non-directional treads. I verified with my dealer service manager, only rotate on the same side.
Since raising just one side of the car is sufficient, the pinch weld areas serve well. I used a floor jack with a hockey puck in the saddle, along with the factory jack in the other location.
The torque value for the wheel lugs is 103 ft/lbs.
The first rotation is suggested at 3,000 miles and subsequently at 6,000 mile intervals.

Tire rotation has always been suggested at the regular service interval (7500 miles or, more recently, 10,000 miles). When Volvo started their Wear and Tear coverage, they actually started recommending against tire rotations. But it really depends on what kind of driving. When there is more tread on the rear tires than the front, rotate them.
