Default Custom cold Air Intake

Hi all. I just got a 2001 Volvo S60 T5. I love the car, butI was looking online for a cold air intake kitfor the car, but I can not find any. Thus I started wonderin if I could maybe just put a K&Nair filter at the end of the existing pipe that goes into the air box, and remove the top of the box completely to give the car a better sound and maybe better fuel economy. Can you please tell me if this would work, or if I would damage the car in any way.

Thanks

George.

I think you would be best for now dropping in a K&N panel filter and leaving it.

The OEM setup is a decent one.

Put a K&N stock replacement filter in the factory box and cut a hole in the box and put some pipes connecting to the front airdam.
Or you can buy a cone filter, and make a costum box to keep the heat out, and put some pipes connecting to the front airdam for more air.
Here is what i did to mine: https://volvoforums.com/m_114459/tm.htmand mine only cost about $60.

sorry but I do not want to cut anything in the car LOL. Like the previous poster said, the stock setup for a T5 is good. I did some research online and they said that stock air intake is not restrictive.

Yes, it actually is a good intake system,I was only suggestingif you wanted to get a little more air to the box then cut. That is what me and my dad will be doing to his V70R.
