Custom cold Air Intake
Hi all. I just got a 2001 Volvo S60 T5. I love the car, butI was looking online for a cold air intake kitfor the car, but I can not find any. Thus I started wonderin if I could maybe just put a K&Nair filter at the end of the existing pipe that goes into the air box, and remove the top of the box completely to give the car a better sound and maybe better fuel economy. Can you please tell me if this would work, or if I would damage the car in any way.
Thanks
George.

Put a K&N stock replacement filter in the factory box and cut a hole in the box and put some pipes connecting to the front airdam.
Or you can buy a cone filter, and make a costum box to keep the heat out, and put some pipes connecting to the front airdam for more air.
Here is what i did to mine: https://volvoforums.com/m_114459/tm.htmand mine only cost about $60

sorry but I do not want to cut anything in the car LOL. Like the previous poster said, the stock setup for a T5 is good. I did some research online and they said that stock air intake is not restrictive.
I realize the intakes are somewhat diff, this is for an R but it may give you some ideas. My write-up starts at post #33...
