DSTC: relay? CEM? or exorcism?
Hey Gang - need a hand please.
01 S60 T5m - 145k, etc. Shortly after purchasing this car in '08 it developed issues with the ABS/DSTC system. The ABS module went bad, and I replaced it @ 103k in '09. This cleared up the ABS issues. The DSTC system, however, still has gremlins. After replacing both front speed sensors, and testing the rears for continuity & checking for cracks - left them alone. Still, errors pop up. After reading every thread on multiple forums, none seem to have a similar issue. So here goes.
Recently all codes were cleared and within a week these are the new ones:
- CEM-1A62 - communication with ECM signal missing
- ABS-0093 - control module communication
- ABS-00A2 - side accelerometer faulty signal
- ABS-00A3 - side accelerometer signal outside limit
- ABS-00B5 - control module communication signal
At this point, both the dealer and my more trusted Volvo mechanic are both scratching their heads. So, I've started to research relays - word on the street is that ones made in Portugal can be suspect, whereas ones made in Hungary have a better track record. (could someone help define what the CMA2/3 and CMI22 x-feed, and 15-feed overload, extended X relays do?)
Next is looking at the CEM, but mine doesn't show any ABS/DSTC relays on it - at least per the layout. Could it simply be that the CEM itself needs help? (one clue may be that in the chillier winter weather, it seems to error out more once the car warms up, or the heater is on for a while. I haven't yet tried the hair dryer test on the CEM)
Or is a good, ol' fashioned exorcism in order?
Thoughts? Ideas?
