Default Ease of replacing brake pads/rotors

Hey all. Newbie owner here. I just bought a 2006 S60 2.5T with 49000 miles today. The dealer told me that there was 5mm on the back and 8mm on the front pads. When I checked the rotors through the rim before buying it I could tell from a lip on all the rotors that by the next time I change the pads the rotors will prob need replacing too. I've replaced a lot of newer ford brakes and rotors. Just wondering if it's as easy. I can already see from the threads that I'll need a 7mm hex wrench so thats a great start. Any other info on ease of replacement is greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Nothing new here, the brakes are very straight forward. If the rotor thickness is in spec. and you have no other symptoms, then just replace the pads.

Just what I needed to hear! Especially since I'm seeing on here that shops charge around $1000 to just change the pads and resurface rotors.

You moved from a Ford to a Fjord.
Some people don't know how to shop, and some shops have a problem being reasonable.

I just got a $600 quote from the dealer who "discovered" the need for pads and rotors on an 06 V70 at 63,000 miles. When asked about resurfacing, the service rep said no can do because of lip. Odd, since on several Hondas, front brakes lasted 100K plus and there's no difference in driving style or route. I asked about pad thickness, he fessed up is was still 3 mm. So if they wear out and groove the rotors, according to dealer, I have to replace the rotors any way. Hmmm....
