when i start up the car from being cold it makes a rattling noise for a second

can an one help its coming the the exhaust vicinity?

 

There was a tech note about something like this at one time.
They would change the bracket holding the exhaust to the subframe.

 

so is it a recall or what would i have to do?

 

No recall it was just a fix from Volvo for the problem.
Do you also hear it at certain RPM's while driving?

Does it sound like it is coming from right under the shifter area?

 

no the exhaust area? or the right side area

 

Check the hangers then maybe one came loose.

 

Hey just a question. My car rattles to just as described. You asked if it rattles at a certain RPM. Mine does. Usually around 2K. Sometimes lower but it seems to always be at that point. I took it into the mechanic and he thinks that its some baffling on the muffler or something. He said you cant weld it or anything only replace it. Its 200 Bucks. Is there some issue know with rattling from volvo at a certain RPM. I am really tired of my car sounding all cheap and rattley.

 

yea someone i know said it could be that thing. it only happens to me when i first start it up at when its cold at rpms 2000

 

mine rattles @ 1000-1200 rpm all the time...Is it normal?
