Default Fluctuating acceleration

Hey guys

I have a 2006 S60 2.0T. I noticed that when I give full throttle, the acceleration isn't smooth and consistent. Instead it "fluctuates" if i can say that. Like it feels like the engine is giving gas, then not giving gas. Like it does this very rapidly through out the acceleration. Someone told me it might be the gas filter. Even when I stay at a constant speed it does this.

I just took it to the dealer and went with him for a test drive. He said it might be the turbo boost pressure valve. If I haven't forgotten the name, that's what he said. It's rectangular and has like 2-3 mini rubber tubes connected to it. I have to take it in for a manual check because the computer diagnostics showed no problems.

My neighbor has 2004 V70R, he took mine for a drive, says definete boost leak, I tried switching my ipd HD turbo control valve back to stock, didn't do anything for me. My dealer thought throttle body needed cleaning so I did that. Didn't help.

I am in no way a mechanic but if there is a boost leak, shouldn't it be a consistent power loss instead of jerking acceleration which I would assume means on/off regain of power?

ive had multiple people tell me vacuum/boost leak. including IPD saying to check intercooler and turbo lines for cracking. if the crack is very thin (hair-line) it could be getting blocked/un blocked. if it doesnt turn out to be vacuum leak i will let you know but this is what im set on finding for now. otherwhise another possibility is the CBV has failed or is weak

Any idea how I go about doing that? So I just check all the tubes?

use carb cleaner to spray on the lines, if there is a vacuum leak you should be able to hear your engine idle increase. I was playing with my turbo wastegate and i found it drove better for a little while. I have a feeling the wastegate could be sticking. so im going to pull the turbo this weekend and replace CBV and see if cleaning wastegate improves anything. I'll let you know how it goes

Yeah man please. I can't go blowing money on things that might not be the issue since I'm a university student. Plus it would be fun to fix myself I guess.

Hey, got an update for ya

turbo gaskets and cbv didnt help. but heres what happened. the other day i started her up and it was running pretty ruff. gave it sum gas and it stalled. constantly. unplugged the MAF sensor and ran alright. today i replaced the MAF sensor and runs like new. I guess it was slowly dieing on me and was tripping out. So .. problem solved

i got a new bosch one from napa auto parts for about 320 with tax. dealer wanted 400... check out rockauto.com tho. they have them for 165, not bosch though.

i would recommend getting a 2nd opinion on it tho before dishing out that cash.

maybe go to dealer and see if they have a tester MAF they can install and test out on ur car. if car runs better, go get a new one.

You can buy NEW MAFs for as low as $31.

Check around with Google. I bought one to check my OEM MAF, and it performed just as well (my problem was the ETM).

I got mine from AutoPartsDeal.com

Just Google "REPV316708" for best prices.

Same part is used in a BUNCH of Volvos.
