Default front suspension noise and questions

I have a clunk on the drivers side front. I thought the noise was caused by the upper spring/strut bushing since there was slack in it. However i had it changed and now it still does the same clunk noise. Is there supposed to be a gap between the rubber mount on top of the strut tower and the bushing under that? I have a gap on both sides but only had one on the drivers before dropping the car off. I have taken the tire off and all seems tight and no slack in the suspension other than the bushing that was replaced. I
s there something else that is a common failure that i should be looking for?

Have you taken a look at the end link? I had a similar clunk for a little while.
