So the front end clicks - suspension pics and questions w/in:
I had a post about the clicking in the front end of our o6R, and I finally had a chance to get out there to see what was going on.
I knew that we needed breaks and possibly rotors, have read a great deal here about the tie rods going out and its what appears to be the same w/ ours.
Here's a pic of what I saw this morning, as you can see by the arrows when you move the rotors right to left while facing it the joint pictured is really sloppy. Its very due for replacement and an alignment.
One: Where to find replacement parts outside of the dealer for the tie rod? On more than one occasion Ive been forced to pay their pricing, but would prefer that I dont have to if I dont have to. Also, do you have the buy the whole piece, or can you just get the joint?
Two: For brakes and rotors where / what is recommended for OEM / OEM like parts as this is the DD for the wife and there's no need to get crazy outside Volvo's specs for replacement.
Thanks in advance.

the fact that you can feel the play at the rotor means that it was really bad. normally you can barely feel play with the wheel on... moog is a good brand, there are few brands that you will find at parts stores that are bad, most are good. if they have two different grades of the same part, get the more expensive one. the same goes with rotors- ask the place for oem recommended brakes and you cant go wrong.

On the nose
It is yea, I too was surprised at the amount of play that it has. Super bummer but it is what it is I suppose.
Im looking now at calling Tasca for the parts that I need to get it back into line and then getting it off to get an alignment so that we don't eat tires like their candy.
I will be checking the local places as well for OEM rotor items, but usually they are more $$ than the Volvo specific retailers. I know it was that way when I did complete brakes on my A6 S-Line. Some places are proud of their stuff for sure!

Even looks like breaking up the purchase will save $$ vs going w/ one of the stores. There's a bit more looking to do but thanks!
EDIT: Looks like there's 10% off too...

wow. $20 seems too good to be true. i get usually 40-50% off retail being a mechanic and i can't get that price. the moog part number is EV800283. it retails for $66 and moog will re-engineer the part to improve the weak area to decrease failure. my cost on that part is $28, i can't imagine a part the retails for $20- i would be cautious of something that cheap. no one will give their parts away if you know what i mean... in the automotive world you ALWAYS get what you pay for.

I agree, I was looking at the pt# that they were listing on iPD's site, and they have that same one listed for sub 2o if Im not mistaken. They also list the year / make of all that it applies to but I didnt check to see if the ones that are listed on FCP's site is the same that says will not work on the R model.
I agree w/ you get what you pay for - I've been bitten by that in the past which ALWAYS ends up costing more in the long run for sure.
