Default Front wheel draging noise when up hill

My S60 2001 has 85KM and recently I am hearing a noise from the front wheel it when going up hill. It only occurs at a short bust. I thought it was the brakes causing and have skimed the brek disc, but still the same.I've also blead the break oil and changed it.Still the same.
It sound like hmm hmm hmm, Kind of something turning and rubbing as the wheel turns.

Maybe the wheel bearing is bad.

Default Front wheel draging noise when up hill

Hello,

I've checked the Wheel bearing (front driver side)and found that one of the bearing is actually giving noise when free spined.Replaced it. After that checked out that the sound is still there. Could it be some on the Transmision system that causing this. I did changed my transmision fluid recently to see if it had something to do with but still the same.I did try switching the speed on the transmision but the sound would'nt go away, I only way I can get the sound go away is if I acclerate to about more than 50KMH and above, but thats not possible when there are cars infront or if I'm stuck in a traffic jam.

This sympthom occurs very randomly so I am actually trying to take proctive measure to make sure it doesnt break down.
Hopefully you will help me to solve this noise issue. My machanic was not able to figure it out cause its not something I can't duplicate.
Thanks in advance

Is the heat shield rubbing on the rotor?

Are you refering to the brek disc shield on the rotor? If yes, the shield is fairly clear from any part of the rotor shield. Dont hear the sound when driving for a short distance, usually will hear it after about 30 to 45 miniutes of street driving (stop go stop go).Its very intermittent.

Are the rotors fairly new?

Yes that is what I meant. I have seen the shield hit the inside edge of the rotor by the Hub area at weird times. Like only going around a corner and stuff like that.

Thanks for prompt reply. It happens on a straight road and yes I've verified its not the rotor shield, it looks good on both side. The sound, sound like hurr..errrr..errrr (kind of rubbing or friction against something)rather than a hum.. hum..hum.
The brake rotors are not new I just skimed (surfaced it) to see if it will help, but still same.

Sorry to thread steal but i think i have this problem. When im making a hard left turn i can hear a sound sort of like a brush hitting a fan. Like a tst tst tst. also sort of like a short purst of compressed air. I have also noticed more recently the same noise coming from the right side. Only notice able with the windows down.

Do you think this is the shield hitting and if so how do i go about fixing thins?

Very strange I wish I was close to hear the noise in person.
Not much will change just from going up hill.

Pull the wheel and check between the rotor and the shield all the way around.

Default Front wheel draging noise when up hill

Dear Tech,
Recently I discovered that the noise will appear after driving for about 45min in flat (level) straight busy street. When start to move at about 10 to 15 kmh the noise will be heard and if I stop accelerating the sound goes away (even if the car is still coasting). On the other hand if accelarate above a 50 kmh the sound goes away too. These are some of the sysmthom that I can explain. Hope you will be able to point out something to look for. Thanks

Kind of hard to pinpoint I wonder if it is a wheel bearing.

Default Front wheel noise

Dear Tech,
The vibration can be felt on the strering wheel, currently the sound seems to be apearing even on flat roads but still intermittent, normally after driving around for 30 to 45 min in busy city. Is there any thing else that I could check. Your experties is highly appreciated. Thanks

It is hard from here to tell you without looking at it myself. I still wonder if it is a wheel bearing.
