Default Gasonline smell from engine after tranny rebuild

Hi All,

I've recently had my tranny rebuilt and since then started smelling gas coming from the engine. This may be coincidental with the tranny rebuilt, but i thought I'd mention it.

The smell comes from outside of the car (not through cockpit) but is strong enough that u can smell it.

Any thought on what might be causing the gasoline smell?

you could have a small crack in the gas line, your fuel filter could be cracked....its hard to say however I would look into this to make sure that you do not have a small pin hole sized leak

I took it in today, and the mechanic found one service code which is probably related:[*]ECM-430D - Leak diagnostic, minor leak (Possible Source
leaking fuel tank, filler pipe, fuel tank filler cap, EVAP canister, EVAP canister shut-off valve or lines between these components).

However, another thing started happening today: when driving at 50-60 km/hr, at a low but steady gas (rpm approx 1500), the engine starts slightly revving up ... as if there was inconsistent pressure on the pedal. I don't know if this makes sense, but I'm not sure how else to describe it ...

if i am a betting man the first part I would replace would be the gas capped, I was getting a code and bought a new cap for around $10....might solve your issue or it might not, but I would start there and see what happens! J.M.O.
