Default '02 Won't start after trans rebuild.

Reputable local shop rebuilt - car turns over until kills battery - RPM gauge is all over the place - will 'choke'...one out of every 10 times it will start right up.

Had car atdealer for weeks they replaced sensors and other parts, finally wanted to remove trans to check flywheel but wanted $1100 to do it. Two other mechanics say trans shop probably bent flywheel when working on trans. ATRA (prof org for trans rebuilders) says not possible to damage flywheel with this model. Dealer had brought in specialist to check car and came up empty.

I am lost and don't know what to do. Have hefty loan and spent a lot on car already. Trans shop will check flywheel but need to pay 1200 if that's not problem. Crank sensor has been checked.

Any ideas? I can't afford to throw more $ at this, and what if that doesn't solve problem?

I don't know. Codes had been cleared several times - was told due to misfire, although I really am not sure what I'm talking about.

If it won't start it should be setting a code.
If they put the tranny in and it wouldn't start after they just installed it and had to push it out of their shop I would make them fix it or pay to fix it.

It ran when it got there and doesn't after they finished.

Here is what I think the problem is.
1.Damaged flywheel
2.Something left unplugged
3.When they did the rebuild they painted the bellhousing the it is not making ground through the tranny to the engine.

If you want to try to look at the flywheel cheating remove the crank sensor and turn the motor over by hand and look in the sensor hole for damage.
You will need 2 people to do it though.

Make the Transmission shop pay! your car starts driven in and now it doesn't??? Also check the connector at the engine speed sensor... that can damage easily too... The transmission shop is lying about not being able to damage flywheel... if they forgot to remove flywheel bolt and keep prying it to seperate transmissionwill damage flywheel and not to mention after they rebuild and force transmssion in by using bolts to pull it in will cause damage to flywheelor Engine speed sensor...
