Default Geartronic question and a mod question

Hey, i have a 01 s60 t5 with that geartronic semi auto tranny. ill b honest i only drove stick like 3-4 times so i have no idea how those shifts work. My question is, if im in the manaul mode, and im lets say in my 4th gear, and I wana floor it, do i have to first downshift and then floor it in 3rd (not to kill the tranny), OR can i start accelerating while downshifting to 3rd ??? as in so its a quick thing, i start flooring it in 4th, 0.2 seconds later i downshift so it goes faster, n then i wait till i get to decent rpm to upshift again and so forth... Thx for helping

Also, is it totally stupid to do an ECU chip to change timing maps in the whole engine when I am already at 200,000 km ..?? car was always taken care of and serviced at volvo in small intervals before i bought it got records), plus i myself changed timing belt, driving belt, tensioner, spark plugs, engine mounts, stuff like that. I grabbed it when it had 160,000

downshift then accelerate.

yes - no problem modding at that but you MUST do stage zero (vac lines, TCV, etc. etc, search for it and you will find it)

what i meant is lets say im drivin , foor on the gas, n a car flies by me, n i wana catch up, lets say. to take off ur foot completely off the gas, downshift, then floor it again is precious seconds you know. but this way its all instant, i floor it and then within miliseconds downshift to make acceleration faster, does THAT kill your tranny, slightly bad , not bad at all ?? thats my question

You are driving on the road at 50 MPH. Your foot is probably on the throttle, what, 15-25%?? (I don't know, just a guess.) Dude flies by you. Keep your foot where it is on the throttle, downshift, and floor it AFTER the gear engages.

Not expert in this area but was wondering would it be easier, in this case, if you floor ti first, Auto would downshift (kickdown) than you switch to Man to stay in that gear? Does this make any sense?
