Default General Tire

Hi, Looking to get a new set of tires for my 2004 S60 AWD T5, saw an add for General Tire Exclaim UHP, at a really good price, are they any good? Currently have the original Pirelli's on it and thye are just about done, the dealer wants like $2,000 for new Pirelli's and about $1,600 for Michelins .. thats a little steep for tires.

I think the exchange rate is about the same, if it is that's a rip off!!

You might want to brouse this site....
http://www.tirerack.com/index.jsp

Either that or go to a reputable tire shop. The dealer will always be more.

Looks like a good site, went back to Sam's club where I purchased tires last year for my S70, and I think I will get them there, a set of Michelin for $800.00.

I found the receipt for the Pirelli's for my S60 that the previous owner puton. They were just over $400 from Discount Tire. They're 17". I pay more for the 15" low profile that came factory on my Ford Focus.

I paid $783 at Costco for a set of 18" BFGoodrich G-force T/A and they've been just as good as the stock Michelin Pilot Sport that the dealer wanted $1200 for. Definitely keep checking around for prices, you'll find some good brands for less than those.

a few weeks ago i had YOKOHAMA AVID W4S in size 235/45/17 put on our s60 and payed around $680 mounted, tire insurance included. and about 3 weeks after i got them i had a puncture in one of them - replaced for free right away.
i bought them at american tire depot here in california.
but just like everyone said in the other posts, it definitely pays to shop/phone around - amazing how much difference there sometimes is in one and the same tire, just from different dealers.

good luck

fritz

I put Fuzion Hri 225/45/17 on my 02 S60. So far I like them. Haven't had them on long enough to give you a tread wear answer, but they do seem to be doing well.
