Hey guys, new here and to the Volvo community. Recently got a 2001 S60 2.4 turbo from an auction. Drove it home, ran perfect, thought I got a great deal. The next day after driving for maybe a mile, it starts bucking like its not getting gas or something. Come to a stop and it cuts off, throw it in park and I have to mash the gas to get it to start, drive it back home bucking and popping and it cuts off in the driveway, wouldn't start back no matter what I did. Came back out a couple hours later and it starts and drives perfect. Ran for 3 days no problems then out of the blue it happens again. This was a couple weeks ago and since then I have had the convertor, the mass air flow sensor, the fuel pump, and the air filter replaced at various mechanics to no avail, have yet to get a cel or a code out of the computer. Had a guy come to my house who said he finally got a code out for the throttle actuator, don't remember the code number, he says the throttle body needs to be replaced and he can't do it, need to go to the dealer because it needs to be reprogramed. So after spending so much already, I dug a little bit and low and behold, it has a brand new throttle body on it already, looks as if it was replaced yesterday so I start to think that it was just never programed but a couple Volvo "specialists" have told me that if it was never programed then it would have never started. Is this true? One of the specialists told me that oil from the oil trap can be getting into the new throttle body so I took it upon myself to remove the intake, the throttle body is bone dry, a little oil residue in the original intake piping but nothing in the throttle body itself. Any advice? Been all over the web and can't find a similar post. Sorry so long, been very frustrating.
