HU-613 and alarm system problems
Ever since I put in a new battery I have been having problems w/ my radio ('01S60 2.4T.) First it would not read CDs (any kind), and now I am not getting any sound from any of the passenger side speakers. On top off it, the alarm seems to go off for no reason with a barely audible siren with the flashers on. I would hate to take it to the dealer since they do not pay that much attention to my car as I have not bought it there (recent transplant to KY from Chicagoland). I ended up with a free car wash with all the windows down and a broken fuel door hinge after my 60K scheduled maintenance. Is there anyway the electrical issues can be resolved at an independent shop?
Probably. Most likely when you replaced the battery you set off some codes. Any shop that has an OBD reader should be able to hook it up and see what the codes are. I guess that they would be able to reset the codes. Not sure if that is what messed up the radio speakers however.
BTW where from KY. I live in Elizabethtown.

I am in Lexington so I used the dealer's shop here for the sched. maintenance instead of driving to L'ville where they say service is better. I have the reader as well but I think for alarm systems etc. it needs to be read thru Volvo software.
You may be right for the alarm. I just bought an 850 GLT for my son from Volvo of Louisville. They do all my heavy maintenance/repairs. There is a good mechanic in E'town that does the normal stuff.
