Injecting too much fuel
Hello all so I just purchased this 2012 volvo s60 for $300 due to a no start and previous technician said engine seized. I figured it needed and engine, but turns out 2 injectors were just dumping fuel into the cylinders causing the engine not being able to turn due to being full of fuel. So not knowing if there are any other issues like head gasket, turbo, etc, I just replaced the 2 injectors that were in 2 and 4. I ran compressed air thru the 2 failed ones and the air just goes right thru , the other 3 they don't. so I moved the new injectors to 4 and 5 too make it easy to remember which ones I replaced and the brand was standard because thats what they had in stock at oriellys. The spark plugs were new and I ran compression at about 130psi each cylinder while I had everything out. Now the problem, when its cold it starts up and I can drive it around my neighborhood because its not registered yet and it runs fine no hesitation or anything, once I get back to my house, I will idle for a couple minutes and it'll start run rough and smoke will pour out the tail pipe. When I originally fixed the fuel injectors and I got it started it smoked a lot due to all the fuel that was pumped into the exhaust was burning off and that is what is happening now but not until 5-7 minutes after being warmed up. scanner says cylinder misfire 4 and 5 . I swapped coils and plugs but the misfire stays with 4 and 5. Do I have 2 defective injectors, do I have computer problem, do the adaptive need to be cleared. I am a little puzzled on this one.
You probably need to do a few more tests. Injectors are just solenoid switches so if you are able to start and run, I'd look for other issues that impact the mixture. What codes are being presented? my list of suspects w/o knowing any codes or measurements: 1) fuel pressure? pump controller or fuel pressure sensor good? 2) hoses/ intake air leaks 3) MAF 4) throttle body 5) ECT sensor
