After updating my iPhone 5 to ios7 operating system, I can no longer use the steering wheel forward and reverse buttons when music is streamed from the phone. Everything except volume must be controlled from the phone itself. That sucks. It used to work.

Do you have the factory iPod kit in the car or are you using an aftermarket brand? I bought my car with the factory iPod adapter but replaced it about 1 yr ago I bought an LE model from IMiv ( Introduction > Home | iMIV.ca ). It is a direct replacement for the factory model and the sound quality and integration are great, and I have full use of my steering wheel controls with IOS 7 and iPhone 4. With the use of the connector adapter you can plug an iPhone 5 in and it works just as well.

 

I heard a lot of stories on the Apple forums about this problem, but that was when iOS6 came out. I had the same trouble myself. I updated the firmware on by BT unit and it sorted it out. Mine is one I installed myself though (GROM Audio).
