HI,
I've got a 2004 S60 which is driving me nuts re the boot operation.
I know from various posts here that it seems to be a common problem with the model and swapping out the relay and loom seem to be the usual fix but I'm somewhat perplexed with mine as the problem doesn't seem to make sense.
The button to open the boot (on the boot lid) stopped working a little while ago and I assumed it's the little relay in the housing which has failed.)
It still worked using the key fob and tbh it was just a job to get round to until the last few day when I started to get the "Boot Lid Open" message o the dash and the boot wouldn't open on the fob.
The thing I don't understand is that, if I manually latch the boot lock when the lid is open, both the key fob and the button on the boot work fine. When the boot lid is closed then nothing.
Obviously the lock and servo are working fine so why doesn't everything work when the boot is closed?
If it was the loom then surely nothing would work other than manually inserting the key.
What concerns me is that I replace the button and the loom (which I know isn't particularly expensive) am I likely to still have the same issue.
As a side question.
Assuming I get the main problem fixed, how difficult is it to be able to open the boot from within the car (every other car I've owned has a boot opening button either on the dash somewhere or non the driver's door.)
