I just recently bought a 2001 S60 T5 135,000 km black 5 Speed. i know its safe and at par with Audis /BMW for repairs. My dad has a 78 trans am, 2002 Jeep 4.7 H.O, 04 A4 3.0 and he swears by K&N air filters. Should i use one on my S60 i just dont want the sensor to go all nuts on me if it gets more air then it should be ? any thing helps thanks.

 

You should be fine with either the K&N air filter or can take the box out and do a cone filter......

S60's are great cars in the Volvo lineup! Reliable as long as you do the proper maintenance. Quiet on the road, good looking, quick since it has the t5 package and can be modified easily! Make sure that the Tbelt and water pump (more so the belt) has been changed out. Also check your transmission fluid to make sure it's fresh and of course the pcv system...

 

I put a K & N in my S60. You won't get any codes. It will just remap the computer slightly for the increased air flow.

 

I have a 2006 S60 and I was thinking of going to the K&N filter.

Somthngfrce stated its ok to take out the box and go with the Cone style K&N. I know the Cones offer a little more of that performance look.

In the past I have used the cone style (Mustang GT 91 337K sold) and the panel style (528i 98 256K) with what I feel were some performance gains too.

What about the stock box with the intake from the grill?
(Cold air induction – kind of). Yes/No?

If you go cone will you sacrifice performance do to engine bay heat?

If you take out the box I assume the cone will clamp to the MAF.

Anyone have any photos of the cone K&N or other cotton cone filters?
