Default Keyless Remote

I have another question about this 2001 S60 we purchased. It has the keyless remote, appears to be authentic Volvo, but doesn't work. Looks in great shape, so we bought a new battery for it but still doesn't respond.

I've read something about turning the ignition to the accessories position 5 times then pressing any button on the remote to program it. Did not work for me, is there any other way other than having someone at a Volvo dealer do it for me?

Thanks for the help,

I saw that 60 people read you post and no one offered a reply. I had a 2003 C70 and ONLY a dealer can program your key. I may be wrong but that is what happened to me. I purchased "Volvo" keys from Ebay and still had to go to the dealer. IT IS NOT CHEAP to program a Volvo key BUT I can tell you it is cheaper than Prosche !!!!!
