Default Lambda sensor, can you use a universal one?

I have a Volvo S60 2.0 turbo 2001.
The engine management light is currently on and I am told that it is becasue the lambda sensor has failed. Does anyone know if you can use universal sensors on the S60 as they are are fraction of the price of Volvo parts, but they do not appear to be listed in the manufacturers manuals. Any ideas???

Thanks

I would not use a universal one. I would stick with a Bosch Non universal one.
