Default Looking to buy S60

Hi,
I will be looking to buy an 01-03 volvo s60 soon.
I just want to ask if there is any common problems that s60 has that I need to be aware of.
and what do I need to look into when I look at this car??
the most important thing is how is the reliability on Volvo, do they last long??

any help will be appreciated, and also I plan to put HID on the car, does the car have obc that will throw light error??
if so, which HID kits won't throw obc error.

thanks,
Michael

This car tends to be reliable if maintain well.Check it out/get it checked out before you buy.

I have never worked with HID upgrades. This model does have a feature which tells you when a headlight bulbs is out. Don't know how that would factor with HID.

Some NA cars will have problems with the ETM. If yours is the Magnetti-Marelli then it will be covered under the 10 yr. 200K warranty.

Can't help on the HID.

If you haven't driven an S60 yet, I suggest you do so before committing yourself. I was considering buying one for my wife until we test drove one (a used 2004) at a dealer. Apparently the S60 has a considerably larger turning circle (38+ feet, curb to curb) than previous models, which makes it somewhat difficult to park and maneuver in tight places. This would drive my wife nuts! Compare this to the old Volvo 240 with a 32' turning circle and my '99 V70 with a 33' turning circle. If this doesn't bother you, then go for it.
