Sorry to bump a topic that is 8 months old, but I have a similar question...

The same thing that happened to emmanuelhs, above, happened to me with the only difference being that I was able to locate the door from the carwash after it had been torn off.

The plastic hinge is broken, and I have found a source for one. My question is how do I remove the old plactic hinge and replace it with the new one and replace the door?

Youradvice is greatly appreciated.

Mine is broken too. I have purchased a replacement door ($60 at the dealership) which included the new hinge, which is the part that breaks, although the locking hook on my door broke also. I haven't had mine painted and replaced yet but it looks like it is a plastic rivet holding it on. If it is you would just drill out the rivet center and install a new one. A friend of mine owns a body shop so I/m just going to let him replace the hinge when he paints the door.

 

You can just replace the hinge for about $20.00 if you still have the fuel door. When you install it you only get one chance to get it right. The little plastic screws are one time use. If you do screw it up (like I did) you need to screw somescrews through the plastic piece but it still works fine.

 

Funny thing is I was filling at a gas station, I opened up my tank, and BLAMO my gas tank snapped right off, This is gettinng more and more common!...Things are so fragiles LoL cost me 48$ to get this fixed at the delearship...

I guess they re - riveted it in.

 

Mine too. Except I had a friend put gas in when it snapped off, so I blamed him (same friend who also shut the trunk on my power antenna on another car). He picked up the new hinge at the dealer for about $15 and put it on himself. By the way, I don't let that friend touch the car anymore. Plastic hinge... WTF were they thinking! What next, pop-rivet the wheels on?

 

The hinge broke off. It is replacable and pretty easy to replace.

 

Had mine replaced already under warranty. As I understand it, you just push the plastic pins in till they fall out, lift off the old hinge, insert new hinge, push new plastic pins into holes on new hinge.
