Question Lowering springs S60 2.5T - 2006 -

I am new to the Volvo world... The last Volvo that was in my family was an old P544 my dad had when I was just a wee lad.

I just picked up this really clean 2006 S60 and there is too much room between the tires and wheel wells.

I'm looking for recommendations as to what brand of springs are best to give it a lowered stance, but retain a decent ride. (I'm looking to drop her 1.25-1.5 inches).

If you put in new springs are their any off set bushings that need to be replaced?

I don't want to wear out the tires due to messed up geometry.
Do you need to or can you have the camber adjusted? (4 wheel alignment).

Any help/advice is welcome.
Thanks
DMac

get H&R springs - exactly the drop you want.

No bushings to change - camber up front can be changed - get an alignment when you drop it.

Rear should be fine, but have them check it all out anyway.

eibachs will drop a bit less than that - they advertise 1.25 but really are more like 1.15 to 1.25

Thumbs up Thanks

Very Cool... I appreciate the advice.

I will look into the H&R's and after they are installed I'll take it her in for a 4 corner alignment.

Thanks

I want to hit that 1.5" drop mark at least or maybe a little more.
There just seems to be so much empty space under the fender.
I don't want to look like a low rider either, just a nice balance between stock and lowered. I haven’t measured the clearance; but eyeballing it, I would guess close to three + inches of void exist.

I'm running with the stock 16's and do not want to change tire/rim size.
I burn up some tires because I drive 100 miles (min) every day back and forth to work. 18's and up just get crazy priced (for a father of 3 and a wife that really doesn't work).

I see others viewing - Any more thoughts/comments from the rest of you Volvo-ites?

Custom coilovers. You can build them yourself for roughly 400 bucks if you're good.

But i think with three kids and a wife maybe you should save your cash.

Eibachs are a very good spring, but I'm finding that the front is OK, but the rear is still a bit high. I'm not sure if the HR 'mix' is any better, but I'll probably end up doing something about the rear springs once my other project load eases up a bit...

Custom Coil overs... Sounds interesting, but I don't have a shop, a lot of tools, time... I can handle changing out some springs but not fabrication. -Thanks adub96.

So far two options H&R or Eibach... Level is good. I Don't think a jacked in the back S60 would be as cool looking as and 60-70's era Mustang.

Keep it comming - Thanks

I wouldn't want to be any lower in front but there is surely an inch to lose in the back with my Eibachs.... I'm actually considering cutting off a 1/4 - 1/3 of a coil to get the back right. If you can get some pics of some H&R equiped S60s that are the same type and year as yours, hopefully this will help you with the decision.

Not a great pic of Eibachs with 17s on a FWD 06 shortly after install. It settled about another 1/4" over the next week.

I have been looking to do the same thing But was told that Eibachs drop the front quit a bit so i have still not done it(i live in NE and with the hard winter coming i worry about front being to low). But i was also told that you can use R springs to get the drop that i was looking for.Any one done this or is it even true?
