Hi all. New member here. I am considering a new V60 PIHV as a replacement company car, Could anybody give me some idea of the approximate MPG when running on petrol?

Thank you Ian

IAN,
Congratulations on getting such a comfortable car with great performance to use as a company car. As far as predicting your mileage, a PHEV such as the V60 will be great but the actual mileage can vary quite a bit depending on the way you use it. For instance, short trips around the city will be different than traveling from city to city. And time stopped allowing it to cool off is also a factor.

That said, I'm driving the new XC60 Recharge and getting near what I expected and it varies from day to day. Being retired now, most of my outings are 5-10 miles round trip with some slightly over 20 just depending on the individual day. According to the App, my car has a Gross Weight of 5862 lbs., so yours should be a bit less and a bit better on mileage all things being equal. And the difference between your business driving and my driving are where equal ceases to exist. Since my last fill up about three days ago, I've not burned a gallon of gas and that screws with all kinds of charts LOL. Some days I may make a 30 mile round trip up the road and on those trips my best guess is something (?) over !00 mpg because I let the computer sort it out in Hybrid mode.

Reading the manual, I found a neat trick I haven't had the chance to try yet, maybe you'll be able to on a company trip. If you enter a destination into the Nav system and the distance is further than the battery capacity and you leave it in the Hybrid mode, then the Nav computer takes into consideration distance, speed, elevation, and traffic all together to map the best use of gas and electric engine mix for best fuel economy but you HAVE to plan the trip in the onboard Nav system. That's just one of the reasons I named my car "Watson2" LOL. Original Watson was my 2014 C7 'Vette (I forgot how many computers worked together in that car).

Enjoy your ride, post a photo or 5.

There are many different pages of data in the app.

Thank you Cruiter for the information. I have not yet ordered the car. My company are pushing all company car drivers towards PEHV. But occasionally, I have to stay away in hotels where there is no possibility of charging the car. Also I frequently travel long distances (300+ miles in a day) which might be a problem for fuel consumption as the electric range would be depleted. So before I ordered the car I just wanted to get some idea of the MPG on purley petrol. The company will only pay a set amount per mile for business use so I am concerned about being out of pocket. Otherwise the car would be my first choice.

Thanks again Ian

Hello Cruiter! I apologize that my reply doesn't have anything to do with the original question here, but think your response may have answered the question to a post of my own (first ever but with no replies). Are you referencing the Predictive Efficiency function when you enter the destination and the software takes over to make the most efficient use of gas and battery? We purchased a 2021 XC90 T8 through the Overseas Delivery Program and have been driving for about a month now...I LOVE IT!!!

I make close to a 90-95 mile daily commute M-F, over hills, curves, and some straight highway. Of course the battery range peters out by 22 miles but I leave it in Hybrid mode and the B gear. The owners manual references the predictive efficiency ability and even states to enter the workplace as a waystation and home as the destination. I have a couple of questions for you and any others that may read this:
1) where is this phantom PE function and how do I get to it?
2) is it okay to drive in B gear all the time?
3) because I exhaust the battery daily, I charge it nightly on a 240 V home plug. I have read where the battery shouldn't be topped off daily but that's not what's happening, I am fully recharging it every night. Will this have an adverse effect on the batteries? (there's always a minimal charge remaining to run lights, locks, and start-up, but my gauges reflect no electrical input when driving...no lightning bolt)

Any help you can provide is appreciated. Svea (an old Nordic term for Sweden), my XC90, and I thank you!
